Sleeping Beauties

In jewelry, to set a stone to a piece of jewel, it is traditional to create a prong setting, a welded structure fitted with claws intended to support and embed the gem. I remember that during my first steps in jewelry, this element left me  unmoved and gave me the feeling of a caged gemstone. Learning and then mastering wax sculpture allowed me to free myself from this method in order to develop aesthetic forms that organically support the gem, transmitting maximum light to it and amplifying its color and shine.

The setting of the two pink tourmalines which adorn the Sleeping Beauties earrings is an example of my desire to create prongs which can sublimate the gems and whose design creates a complete harmony with the rest of the frame, whether viewed from above or from below.
